National Girl Child Day was observed across the globe !!!

January 24 is a special day for all the female population across the globe.  It is National Girl Child Day which the India has been observing since 2008. It is also said that National Girl Day, will coincide with the date when the former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi was sworn in as the first woman PM of the country.
The global message behind celebrating this day is to protect the girl child and to treat her equally with respect and love.
Marking the day, the various departments under the Union government such as Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Department have been making their sincere efforts not only to create good or friendly environment for the girl child but also to save the girl child as well. The day also highlights the importance of educating girl child, giving her the proper nutritious diet and treating her on par with the opposite sex.
With the objective to raise awareness about this day, the Ministry of Women and Child Development comes with the various events that focus on reducing child sex ratio in the country and also to ensure that every girl child is given an equal opportunity with respect to different fields.Though various acts have been passed by the government like Domestic Violence Act 2009, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 and Dowry Prohibition Act 2006 for the betterment of the female population but all such campaigns was still lacking. Ironically, the welfare schemes were not reaching the target group even in some areas of urban localities.
As per census data 2011, Haryana recorded the lowest child sex ratio with 830 girls against 1000 boys. India’s capital Delhi followed the list in terms of lowest child sex ratio with 866, Chandigarh with 867, Maharashtra and Rajasthan recorded 833 whereas Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh recorded 886 and 899 simultaneously.
The efforts are on the way to convey the essence of these acts and social schemes to girls, especially those from the economically weaker sections of the society. From ancient times it has been the regular practice in India that girl child are killed before they are born. Many research reports and studies found that around five lakh girls are killed in India every year. One of the main reasons behind such practice is- majority of India’s population lives in the villages and has a belief that fostering the girl is expensive.
If all girls born in India become empowered citizens with equal rights, then only the purpose of celebrating this day is achieved.

Raining-Fish!!!

Residents stunned as hundreds of fish fall out of the sky over remote Australian desert town

Residents of a small outback Australian town have been left speechless after fish began falling from the sky.

Hundreds of spangled perch bombarded the 650 residents of Lajamanu, shocking local Christine Balmer, who was walking home when the strange 'weather' started.

The fish were all alive when they hit the ground so they would have been alive when they were up there flying around the sky.

Meterologists say the incident was probably caused by a tornado. It is common for tornados to suck up water and fish from rivers and drop them hundreds of miles away.

The residents were thankful that it didn't rain crocodiles!

WHO DOESN'T WANT TO BE A CELEBRITY

Andry Whrol’s phenomenon of short lived publicity had warned people getting influenced by the stardom and fame of few minutes’ way back. And nowadays we can sense “15 minutes of fame” running all through our young blood (Youth) which ensures continuous 24*7 supply of desire and big aspirations. If there were to ask any student stepping out of senior secondary education what they aspire to become, I am quite confident you will be flooded with answers. Like I want to be an actor/actress/singer/dancer or I want to be a TV star. Youth have ample stock of dreams to dream it every night and go haywire to fulfill them without getting to know the hidden motives of media and entertainment industry in this 21st century.
Having been closely associated with media and academics for last five years, I have dealt with students who want to pursue media courses because they wish to become a celebrity one day. Even some students left their home so as to stay away from their parents and join media courses to become TV stars. And if you ask where they get this inspiration from, you would often listen to well-known names from our film industry.
Youth, in all ages, have loved stardom. Most of us do. The curiosity to peep into celebs life is example which elaborates our psychological behavior and strong desire to be like them.
Indeed, today, the notion of being a celebrity comes from two main domains: entertainment and sports. Rest is neglected. In his own times, Oscar wild was a celebrity,  Pablo Naruda was a celebrity, so were writers like Amrita Pritam, Shiv Batalvi, Bashir Badar and Balvantgargi.
But do we see them as our icon? Answer is NO or may be few of us do.

Is Counselling important?

The past is not your potential. In any hour you can choose to liberate the future.”
-Marilyn Ferguson
Sometimes it is tough even to know the existence of our hidden talents. The pressure of studies, the pestering of parents to opt the subject of their choice, the stress of hitting the goal in one short, etc. In between all these hassle, nobody cares to mark the child’s forte. Children start taking the real flavour of competitions after grade 8. Passing with good percentage after 8 is like having a Bunjee jumping! Career counsellors are the one who helps to take such huge long jumps easily and smoothly.Parents of this era, despite of taking due care of their child’s studies takes them to an expert or career counsellor to understand the uniqueness, ability, strength, aspirations and most importantly the weaknesses of their young ones. These things help them to have a viable option for the child. The process is considered as the most important step of the career planning...
